The Barber day

One day at Gunting Rahman Barbershop, on its own screens.

  1. The doors open on Appointments

The POS opens on Appointments, the biggest button on the screen, with Retail beside it for the pomade and Queue under it for whoever walks in. The first barber in has already clocked in on their phone.

What got writtenTill open · float RM 200.00 · first in clocked 09:52
  2. The first sale

Receipt 1 is rung. Its SST is on the line, and anything it took off the shelf is already off the stock count.

What got writtenReceipt 1 · SST on the line · stock count updated
  3. Every barber, on one book

The book runs down the day by the clock: the time and length, the customer, the cut, the barber and the price, with the day's bookings, hours and what it should take across the top. A booking goes from Arrived to In chair to Completed; one who never came is marked No show, and the empty chair counts in the no-show rate. A finished cut becomes a sale with the barber's commission on the line.

What got writtenSkin Fade · 45 min · in chair → completed · commission on the line
  4. Closing

The day end adds the day up: gross and net, profit, every tender and every category, and the cash each till should hold against what was counted. Close the day and its takings post to the books as one journal, the way a bookkeeper posts the Z-report; its receipts wait for the month's consolidated e-Invoice to LHDN.

What got writtenDay closed · one journal posted · each till's count against what it should hold
  5. Lights off

Payroll has the day's hours already. The owner opens the month's profit and loss on their phone with today's sales already in it; nobody stayed back to add it up.
