Late or wrong pay is the fastest way to lose trust. The teams that get payroll right every month share a few simple habits.

Payroll is the one process where "mostly right" is not good enough. The businesses that get it right month after month rarely have a bigger finance team — they have better habits.

Capture attendance as it happens

Clock-ins recorded on the day, with location and a photo, remove the end-of-month argument about who was where. Overtime and lateness are then facts, not recollections.

Close leave before you close pay

Every pending leave request is a payroll question waiting to happen. Set a cut-off, clear the queue, and let approved leave flow straight into the pay run.

Settle claims on a schedule

Expense claims that trickle in all month make the pay run a moving target. A fixed claims window — submitted with receipts, approved once — keeps reimbursements predictable.

Let the statutory tables do the maths

EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB rates change. A system that keeps the tables current, and generates the contribution files for submission, removes a whole category of errors.

Review the summary, not the spreadsheet

Before releasing pay, look at what changed since last month: new joiners, leavers, overtime spikes, unusual claims. If the exceptions make sense, the run is ready.

"Trust is built one accurate payslip at a time."

Aurago links attendance, leave, claims and payroll so the pay run is a review, not a reconstruction.
